At SuperAwesome, we’re proud to be recognised as one of Campaign’s Best Places to Work in 2025 – but we know that kind of recognition doesn’t happen by accident. It’s all down to the brilliant people who bring our mission to life every day.
To celebrate the team at the heart of our success, we’ve launched ‘Life at SuperAwesome’ – a content series that spotlights the incredible individuals who make this such a special place to work. Through their stories, we’re diving into what they do, what drives them, and how they bring their passion to work (and beyond).
Stay tuned as we share what makes SuperAwesome truly awesome – one team member at a time.

We sat down to chat with our Senior People Partner, Louise Curtis, about her time at SuperAwesome so far. Louise is part of the glue that holds much of SuperAwesome together, working with the rest of the People team to ensure everyone is thriving. She spoke to us about the steep learning curve of taking SuperAwesome independent again, as well as what her weekends look like as a mum of two boys (spoiler: lots of sport and muddy kit!).

Can you describe your role at SuperAwesome?

I’m part of the People Team, a small but very busy and central team within SuperAwesome. I work closely with our Chief People Officer to help define and plan our People Strategy, how we support our teams, our culture and help to ensure everyone across SA can thrive in their roles. I also work closely with our People Ops Coordinator on our lifecycle activities, such as onboarding and offboarding and our pay and benefits cycles, where we collaborate with our Finance team. A key part of my role is to partner with our managers and leaders to understand what’s going on in their teams, their challenges and goals, and help to advise them and work with them on their plans and solutions for managing their teams. We are also there for all employees across SuperAwesome, to help them grow and develop in their roles, navigate any challenges, celebrate successes and help them to manage their work and elements of their personal lives, such as when they start/expand their family.

What’s been your favorite project so far and why? Who did you have to work with?

One of the most challenging, but also best learning experiences, was when our management team took SuperAwesome independent again 18 months ago, and we had to work really quickly to set ourselves up to operate as a stand alone company again. It was a steep learning curve but one I found really beneficial to build my skillset and experience. During this, I worked really closely with our Finance partners, our Executive team, and actually everyone across the company as we navigated the changes together. Since then, it’s been incredibly rewarding to be part of onboarding all of the fantastic new hires we have brought into the company – who all add different skills and experiences to enhance what we do and add to our culture.

Tell us about something you’ve had to learn in your role so far?

In 2025, we have been on a journey to become more data focused and data driven. As is the same everywhere, AI is becoming a big focus in our world and I’ve been working hard to understand the different ways to use it – how it can help you be more efficient, how it can save you time researching a topic, how it can help you start writing a comms when you’re not sure where to start; but also importantly when NOT to use it as our role is so fundamentally about working with people, that AI cannot and should not, take the place of the human touch when working with and supporting our teams. It’s also important to understand how to make sure you’re keeping company data safe when using it, so I’m working closely with our InfoSec and Legal team on this. There’s still so much to learn – one of our company’s Performance Principles is ‘Evolve like a kid’ which is all about being curious and questioning how things are done. I’m using AI more and more in my personal life too and it’s becoming an everyday tool to manage the many different tabs open in my brain from one minute to the next!

What would you say is the best thing about working at SuperAwesome?

The people – without question. I’ve worked in larger, more corporate organisations before in my career, and I have never enjoyed my work as much as I have since joining SuperAwesome. Our Executive team is incredibly approachable, they value the partnership with the People Team and care about our culture. The people here have fun at work, but work hard and care passionately about what we do, but without the politics or the egos that you can sometimes get in other/larger companies. I still remember my onboarding introductions with various members of the team, and it struck me that so many people enjoyed being here, and talked so engagingly about what they did and why they did it. As a parent of two pre-teen children, I am also grateful that a company like SuperAwesome exists; to make the internet safer for them and their peers. With that perspective, I want the people who do these jobs to care, to be engaged in their jobs and aspire to keep improving and changing things for the better.

Tell us a bit more about YOU! What do you do in your spare time outside of work?

I’m a mum of two boys, (12 and 9), and most of my spare time is spent in a field! They both play sports, so I’m typically stood on a rugby or football touchline at the weekend, and then washing the mud out of their kits – so glamorous! My kids are quite well known to many at SuperAwesome – they love to pop up on the odd video call. Being a parent is a big part of my life and I’ve never needed to hide my family away from my work.

I have an aging cat called Bob – we think he’s about 17 or 18 as he was a rescue cat so unsure of his actual age when we re-homed him, but he’s been part of our family for 16 years. He’s totally deaf, but spends a lot of his day shouting at me while I’m on calls. So anyone on a call with me who wonders what the strange high-pitched noise in the background is, it’s likely Bob yelling at me. I also have a part-time dog, called Harley. He belongs to my in-laws but spends a lot of time with us and he genuinely seems to think he’s a human at times – he eats off a china plate, sits upright in the car and thinks the sofa is his personal resting place.

I love to travel – Italy is my absolute favourite destination. Lake Garda is my happy place, where I can relax, de-stress and just watch the world go by – that’s harder to do usually as a busy working parent.

I’ve been firmly anti-gardening most of my life, but I’m tentatively getting more green fingered as I get older. I’m proud to have grown (and not killed) a number of plants in my garden this year, so that when I sit out in the sunshine, I can look around at my achievements!

What’s one work goal of yours for 2025? How do you plan to achieve it?

Related to what I said earlier, becoming more knowledgeable about AI is going to be really key – I’m working on some plans with various internal experts at the moment to help increase our collective knowledge and skills, so I’m hoping I’ll learn as much as everyone else as part of this! I tend to learn by doing, so I’m planning on doing more testing of different use cases and how to get better answers out of the tools by refining the instructions you give it.
