While the Future8 Awards entries are being judged, we are pleased to announce that NaturalMotion Games, the hit mobile games developer, has partnered with The Future8 Awards to exclusively sponsor the Animation category – and they are offering a unique and exclusive prize to the winner!

What makes NaturalMotion Games a perfect sponsor for the Animation category?

NaturalMotion Games, recently acquired by Zynga, is the maker of hit mobile games including Clumsy Ninja, CSR Racing, and CSR Classics.  NaturalMotion Games were the first company to apply biology and the way humans work and move to real-time animation in gaming, just like you see in movies (think ‘Lord of the Rings’ battles)! Before games like Backbreaker Football (one of NaturalMotion’s first games), nothing looked realistic and characters could only perform a limited set of actions and movements. NaturalMotion totally changed that with their Morpheme with Euphoria technology, which lets characters react in real time to events around them!

What prize will the winner of the Animation category win?

The winner of the Future8 Animation category will win an action packed day trip to NaturalMotion Games’ studio in Oxford! You’ll spend time learning from the amazing teams behind Clumsy Ninja and Morpheme & Euphoria, getting first hand experience on how to create game-changing animation! This will be followed by an exclusive lunch with members of the NaturalMotion Executive team, so you can ask them all your burning questions about your dream career and get some top tips!

Who will be judging the animation category?

Simon Mack, Chief Technology Officer of NaturalMotion Games is joining the distiguished line-up of Future8 judges. After completing his Masters in Engineering at Oxford University, Simon worked at MathEngine Plc developing the Karma physics engine before joining NaturalMotion in 2003 as a developer. Simon oversees development of the Morpheme and Euphoria animation systems as well as the Echo engine used in many of NaturalMotion’s games! This makes him the perfect judge to choose the Animation category winner!

How do NaturalMotion Games feel about sponsoring the Future8 Awards?

Simon Mack expresses his excitement in judging the Animation category: “As a company who has been one of the animation technology pioneers in the video games sector for the last decade, I’m incredibly proud that NaturalMotion is sponsoring Future8’s Animation Category. I’m looking forward to seeing what the next generation of animation talent looks like.”
